Our Story

Built by Experts. Designed for You.

Divorce Tutor exists because one question kept coming up in a New Hampshire family law practice, year after year: “Why is the system only designed for lawyers?”

Meet the founder

25+ years of specialized knowledge woven into every step you're about to take

Heather Sekella has spent more than twenty-five years on the same side of the same courtrooms, doing the work a lot of attorneys don't want to do: family law. It's challenging, it's messy, it's emotionally draining, but it's also rewarding.

She has practiced family law since 1999, and in 2007 she opened her own firm in Manchester, Sekella Law. She earned her credentials as a Certified Financial Litigator and a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, and a reputation as a zealous advocate who made sure her clients were told what they needed to know, not what they wanted to hear.

The cases that impacted her most weren't the complex ones. They were the “average Joes” who walked into her office after failing miserably in handling their case alone. She's helped so many clients right the wrongs, dig out of holes, and bridge the gaps, often at less than the going hourly rate for someone with her experience. Why? Because she wanted to be a viable choice.

What troubled her most was watching the legal system reward the person who could afford an attorney versus the one who couldn't. The billable hours quietly pushed cases toward more conflict and more cost, draining families financially. She started offering limited representation, unbundled help, and smaller retainers to lower the wall, but there were always more people to help than hours in a day.

Over the years, Heather mentored more than a dozen associates and over two dozen law clerks and paralegals. She's handled, and supervised, hundreds of cases. After twenty-five years she had accumulated templates, outlines, charts, and the small practical tips you only learn by doing. The mentoring then became a desire to teach. Those two ideas finally met, and Divorce Tutor was born. The concept wasn't exactly clear at first (early mornings, late nights, weekends, for what?), she was developing a product that didn't exist. What was clear was her purpose and mission: serve others by sharing her knowledge, experience and education. The plan was laid out; she just needed to execute it.

Every word of guidance came from real cases, in real courtrooms, so her experience is there for people even when she can't be. None of it was generated by AI.

“For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”Jeremiah 29:11

Honest About What We Are

Clarity matters in everything we do, including this.

Divorce Tutor is…

  • An education platform that teaches you how your NH case works
  • A document tool that turns plain-language answers into court-ready forms
  • A library of video lessons, tips, and preparation guides
  • Built and maintained on 25+ years of NH family law experience
  • Yours to use privately, at your own pace, from anywhere

Divorce Tutor is not…

  • A law firm — we don’t represent you in court
  • Legal advice — we teach the process, the decision is yours
  • An attorney-client relationship
  • A generic 50-state template mill — we’re New Hampshire, period

Divorce Tutor is not a law firm and does not give legal advice.
